1. Never, ever shop without a list for exactly what you need and always stick to that list - this is so important!

2. Don't shop while you're hungry. You will always end up with more than you need.

3. Avoid any aisle that you don't have something on your list for.

4. Make sure you always compare the name brands to the store brands when it comes to price. I find that even with a coupon for the name brands I would still be saving more with a store brand item.

5. Make a mental note of items that are cheaper at certain stores. I know for instance it is almost a whole dollar cheaper to buy the Walmart brand stick butter than it is the Publix brand.

6. Before checking out always look over the items you are about to purchase and make sure they are truly needed. I find myself putting back items because we really didn't "need" them.

7. Use coupons for example $1.00 off and as long is there is nothing on the coupon stating excludes trial size - you can use it for trial size items and sometimes get it for free or even make a few cents off of it.

8. Create your meals for the next week based on the flyer's Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) and sale items.

9. Think of brand names you usually buy at the store and do a search for the products online. Sometimes you can sign up on their site and they will send you exclusive emails for coupons.

10. Stock up on groceries you know will be used that are BOGO's. This means you may purchase 8 of the same item if it is a great deal and you know you will use them.

1. You can use 1 manufacturer and 1 store (Publix, Target, Walmart, Walgreens) coupon on 1 item. Be sure to double check this with the store you shop at because they can vary. This works out great if you can find a Buy One Get One (BOGO) deal!

2. They will allow you to use 1 manufacturer coupon and 1 store/competitor coupon per item when purchasing BOGO's. So you may have a total of 4 coupons for 2 items!

3. You must purchase both items on the buy one get one free sales.

4. Flyers come out online on Thursday so plan your next weeks meals around this. You'd be amazed at how much you actually do save!

1. Walmart accepts all manufacturer coupons, competitor coupons, and their store coupons.

2. Only 1 coupon is allowed per purchase item.

3. They will also accept online coupons as long as there is an expiration date, scannable bar code, and a valid address for remittance.

4. The coupon may exceed the price of the item and change may be given or applied to the cost of the total purchase. Depending on the store, some will not allow the coupon amount to exceed the amount of the item. I had a problem with this when I had a $5 coupon off of antacid and because the item was only $4.27, they wouldn't let me use the coupon. If you come across this problem, make sure to ask to speak to a manager. The cashiers are able to adjust the coupon amount down to the cost of the item.
